Welcome aboard HackHarvard 2026: Hack to the Moon! 🚀 From October 16 to 18, hackers from all over will gather at Harvard’s David Rubenstein Treehouse for an exciting mission. This year’s theme is a challenge to shoot for the stars. Chase the innovation that feels a little too ambitious, try the technology you’ve never touched, and let your creativity take you somewhere out of this world. Whether this is your first hackathon or your fiftieth, you’ll have workshops, mentors, sponsors, and a crew of fellow hackers to help you launch your new ideas. We can’t wait to see how far you go!

Requirements

All projects must be submitted on Devpost by 8 AM ET on Sunday, October 18. No late submissions will be accepted. Submissions open after the Opening Ceremony and are accepted only from teams competing in person.

Each submission must include a link to a public GitHub repository created between October 16 and 18. You may also include a demo video of up to 3 minutes. It's optional but recommended, and a strong video clearly explains the problem your project solves and walks through how it works. Leave time to upload it to YouTube or another platform before the deadline.

When you submit, select every track, sponsor challenge, and opt-in prize you want to be considered for. Projects that don't opt in won't be eligible for those prizes.

Every team must also present a live demo during judging on Sunday morning, from 9 AM to 12 PM. Judges will visit your team to hear a 3-minute presentation and ask questions. Projects are judged on four equally weighted criteria: Innovation, Creativity & Impact; Technical Complexity; Functionality & Usability; and Teamwork, Collaboration & Learning.

Digital Trust: Fintech and Cybersecurity
1 winner

Each member of the winning team will receive a Brick! (getbrick.com/)

Every day, people trust technology with their money, identity, and personal data. Build a project that makes that trust well deserved. This track covers fintech and cybersecurity: tools that make digital services safer, fairer, or more accessible, and tools that protect people, systems, and data from threats. This includes projects that detect online fraud, protect personal finances, and improve digital privacy.

Hardware for Good
1 winner

Each member of the winning team will receive a drone!

Take your project off the screen and into the real world. This track is for any project that uses physical components: sensors, Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, microcontrollers, motors, wearables, robotics, or other devices. Whether you're building a smart home gadget, an assistive device, an environmental monitor, or something nobody has thought of yet, we want to see what you can build with your hands.

Best Use of Daytona
1 winner

Win 5000 USD in Daytona credits!

Daytona provides fast, secure sandboxes for running code, built for the era of AI agents. Use Daytona to power your project, whether that's giving an AI agent a safe place to write and run code, spinning up isolated development environments on demand, or building tools that execute untrusted code at scale. Your project must use Daytona as a meaningful part of how it works. The team that demonstrates the most creative and effective use of Daytona wins.

Build a Messaging Agent with Photon 2.0
3 winners

Track Winner: $400 cash + $300 Photon credits + fast-track to the final interview round
Runner-Up: $200 cash + $100 Photon credits
Best Voice Agent: $300 cash + $100 Photon credits, for the best voice agent on a Photon phone number

Build an agent that lives where people already talk. With Photon 2.0, your agent gets a real phone number and a native presence across iMessage, SMS, RCS, WhatsApp, Telegram, email, and phone calls. Build companions that understand social context, multi-agent systems that collaborate with humans, or voice agents that answer and place real calls. To qualify, projects must be built on Photon 2.0 and live on at least one Photon channel. Most creative and technically impressive agent wins. A hands-on Photon 2.0 build workshop will be open to hackers from 4-5pm on Friday. Full track guidelines, requirements, and docs are linked here: https://somethingreat.notion.site/Hackathon-Guidelines-for-Photon-2-0-3f8e443f36bb81f9893fed0d08a4c01d

SpaceXAI Make it Legendary
1 winner

Anyone who submits to our challenge will be entered into a raffle for a Cursor Owala water bottle. Every member of the winning team will receive a branded Cursor mechanical keyboard.

Space gives you more to work with than almost any other field. You have access to enormous public datasets, decades of missions, and a literature no human can read all of. Real space data goes in and a legendary project comes out. To be eligible, your project must be built with Cursor. The more you use Cursor, the more likely you are to win. You must also use the Grok Imagine or Voice API in your project. Bonus points, if you use Grok Bot for project planning and team collaboration.

Best Data-Driven Agent Built on Chalk
1 winner

$1500+ in Apple Gift Cards for the winning team!

Build an agentic application that runs on contextual or real-world data, and prove it works! Use any part of Chalk (sandboxes, AI gateways, data integration, evals) in your stack. We'll consider a project's impact, use of data, and how it's evaluated.

Best Use of Nessie
1 winner

$300 gift cards from giftogram for each member of the winning team

How will you reimagine banking? Nessie is CapitalOne’s REST API for hackathons. With simple HTTP requests, you can create customers, manage accounts, move money, check balances, and access ATM and branch locations. You can also set up peer-to-peer transactions. Nessie is structured to resemble how Capital One actually runs things, so what you build here maps to the real world. Show us how you can use Nessie in your project this weekend!

Best Use of Factory Droid SDK
1 winner

Droid is the coding agent behind Factory's CLI, desktop app, and web platform. With the Droid SDK, it can run inside your own projects. Droid plans the steps, uses tools, edits files, and runs commands. You decide when it runs, what it can access, and what it builds. So what will your Droid do this weekend? Show us the most creative, useful, or ambitious thing you can build with it. Get started in TypeScript (npm install @factory/droid-sdk) or Python (pip install droid-sdk) with the docs at docs.factory.ai.

The project must use the Droid SDK (TypeScript or Python) in a meaningful way. Droid should do real work in the running product, not just help you write code. The repo README should explain where and how Droid is used.

Winning team - $2000 cash, $200 in Factory credits for each member, and swag!
